  3. WINS FOR TERENURE & ADAMSTOWN AS TABLE TIGHTENS (31.8.2025)
31st August 2025 by Mick Cotter

WINS FOR TERENURE & ADAMSTOWN AS TABLE TIGHTENS (31.8.2025)

Despite the reduced number of teams for year one of the First Team League, with one round remaining, it has already proven to be a tightly contested competition with all teams capable of producing a win on any given match day.

NORTH KILDARE LOST TO ADAMSTOWN BY 2 WKTS (DLS)

At The Maws, North Kildare won the toss and chose to bat first. The in-form Yash Kalasannavar opened the innings, got the team off to a good start and once again delivered a solid contribution (64 off 78 balls). Husnain Maroof was the other mainstay with the bat, plundering 74 (5x6, 6x4) off just 68 balls, When Maroof departed, the home side had established a solid platform (150/4 off 27 overs).

Runs for Kalasannavar (centre) & Maroof (right) this afternoon put NK in the game

The Ahmadzai brothers (Adnan 33, Asadullah 30) then pushed the Kildare innings past 200 before Prabhanshu Kamal mopped up the tail with Kildare finishing on 223 with almost 9 overs unused.

With some rain extending the tea break, Adamstown were set a revised DLS target of 205. Despite a breezy start from opener Sidharth Biju, the visitors quickly found themselves three down inside the first 10 overs with less than 50 on the board. Dinesh Antony (42) then combined very effectively with Biju to add 68 in 11 overs for the 4th wicket. Biju was eventually fifth out for a well-made 57 becoming Nurulain Boda’s third wicket. Adamstown now 5 down with a further 82 still required.

Prabhanshu Kamal was crucial for Adamstown today

Prabhanshu Kamal (batting at number 6) came to the wicket with the game finely balanced (Adamstown were 115 at that stage) and he took charge of leading his club to an important win. Kamal lost his wicket with just 8 needed for victory and despite a wobble, Adamstown got over the line with 2 wickets and 11.2 overs to spare.

TERENURE BEAT CIVIL SERVICE BY 4 WICKETS

Civil Service won the toss and also batted first up in Terenure. A disciplined performance in field meant that the home side had reduced Service to 72/5 by the end of the 16th over.

That was before Arjun Chandrasekar (batting at 6) led a recovery which saw 83 added in the next 12 overs. By the time Chandrasekar was out for a well-made 65 off just 54 balls, Service had moved on to 155/7 off 28 overs. The late order batters then managed a further 38 for the last three wickets before the innings subsided in the 39th over – setting Terenure 194 to win on the final day of their ‘home’ season.

Kripesh Shetty took four wickets for Terenure

The Terenure bowling effort was well led by Kripesh Shetty (4/50), Dylan Cleary (3/37) and Thomas Shand (2/48).

In reply, openers Mick Cotter (32) and Thomas Shand (40) got Terenure off to a bright start before Shreyansh Khanna removed both players to leave the home side on 76/2 in the 14th over of the chase. The openers were quickly followed to the pavilion by overseas player Hankce Von Rauenstein who had managed just 2 off 14 balls before being bowled by Naveed Khan. Sid Nair (27 off 39) assisted in pushing the team score to 115 before he was dismissed by Roshin Raviprasad with his first ball. Raviprasad then quickly picked up the wicket of Terenure skipper, Donal Lynch – the home side were now 5 down with a further 63 still required for victory.

Tom Shand top scored for Terenure with 40

Zeeshan Mumtaz (31) and Kashish Gandhi then took a grip of the chase adding 46 for the sixth wicket to ease the Terenure nerves.Gandhi finished on unbeaten on 38 as Terenure finished their home season with a 4 wicket win with over 11 overs to spare.

The final round of fixtures are scheduled for Sunday next 7th September as follows:

⇒ Cork Harlequins vs Terenure (Farmer’s Cross)

⇒ Civil Service vs Adamstown (Civil Service)
