  3. WINS FOR CLONTARF, PHOENIX, MERRION, BALBRIGGAN, CORK COUNTY AND LEINSTER - IBI PREMIER LEAGUE (18.07.26)
18th July 2026 by Mick Cotter

WINS FOR CLONTARF, PHOENIX, MERRION, BALBRIGGAN, CORK COUNTY AND LEINSTER - IBI PREMIER LEAGUE (18.07.26)

Another action packed afternoon of IBI Corporate Finance Premier League cricket saw some one-sided ties paired up with big run chases, before the game of the day in Sydney Parade went all the way to the wire before Clontarf sealed victory at the death.

Kicking off in the game of the day, Clontarf batted first and a strong opening stand between Sam Morgan (28) and Mitchell Thompson got them off to a strong start, adding 63 for the first wicket. When Morgan fell, Séamus Lynch joined Thompson, with the pair adding a further 73, dominated by Lynch before he was LBW for 44.

Thompson was joined by Campher, who added some tempo, moving the score to 181 before Thompson was out for a well made 56. David Delany came and went for a well made 23, however at this stage Campher was in and going, finding the boundary almost at will. He added another 42 with Eoghan Delany before falling for an excellent 79 from just 56 deliveries.

He had put his side well ahead of the game, and in spite of a good spell by Pembroke from overs 43 to 47, John McNally's unbeaten 25 from 14 helped boost the total up to 341/8 from 50 overs. Dan Murray was the stand out for the hosts, claiming 3/51 whilst Byron McDonough claimed 2/76.

Pembroke's chase suffered the early loss of Tim Tector, however another 47 runs were added by JJ Garth and Macdara Cosgrave before the latter was dismissed for 28. Addison Sherriff joined Garth, and they added a further 77, dominated by Garth, before he was out for 67 from 63 deliveries including 11 boundaries.

Jack Tector added another good stand with Sherriff, the duo adding 86 before being dismissed for 32, with Sherriff then involved in a third consecutive half-century stand with Danny Hogan, eventually dismissed for an excellent 97 from just 90 deliveries, an excellent caught and bowled by David Delany.

Reuben Wilson returned to the attack and claimed the key wickets of Jack Tector and Dan Murray, however Danny Hogan put on a charge in the final few overs. David Delany however remained excellent under pressure, finishing his 10 overs with 2/46, to seal a 19 run win for Clontarf.

Elsewhere, there was a rapid game in Jack Harper Park, where four wickets apiece for Ruan Strauss and Seb de Oliveira knocked Railway over for just 75, before an unbeaten 33 for Cameron Rowe, and 25 for Connor Fletcher helped them to victory inside 10 overs with 9 wickets to spare.

In the Phoenix Park, Shane Getkate's 120, supported by 60 for Tyrone Kane and an unbeaten 44 for Amish Sidhu guided Phoenix to 376/8 in their 50 overs. Rush were never really in the chase, as they were shot out for just 198, three wickets for James Maginnis, and an excellent 5/60 for leg-spinner Tanvir Hasan sealing the deal for the home side by 178 runs.

Over in Inch, North County made 286 all out in the penultimate over, thanks to 80 for Suliman Safi and thirties for Lochie Hardy and Alan Joseph Mathew. Andy Doheny the pick of the bowlers claiming 3/59, with two apiece for Peter Forkin and Corne Botha. Stephen Doheny's 85 took just 48 deliveries and included seven boundaries and seven maximums, before Swapnil Modgill's unbeaten 132 from 100 balls guided the side to victory with a third of the overs to spare.

Leinster were forced to chase Civil Service's total of 289 in 50 overs, as Simranjeet Singh (97) and Arjun Chandrasekar ensured the visitors made a good game of it in Rathmines. Younas Ahmadzai however was in brutal form, smashing 119 from 82 deliveries as the leading man in the chase, supported well by 85 from Luke Horgan at the top of the order, and an unbeaten 43 for Thomas O'Connor to help seal the deal by 6 wickets with 8 overs to spare.

Finally, in the Mardyke, Cork County's 270/8 was led by Thorne Prophet's 75, whilst there were 30s for both Ross Durity and Donald Marakassery. Robbie Foulkes was the pick of the bowlers for the away side, claiming 3/44 from his 10 overs. In reply, no Malahide batter passed 13, as they were all out for just 45, Bakhtyar Nabi the pick of the bowlers with 4/16, whilst there were three wickets for Diarmuid Carey and two for William Shields.
