GRIPPING TIE AT KENTSTOWN (19.7.2026)

Terenure batted first and made an under par 122 all out off only 34 overs however they were then rescued by their own bowlers who prevented Knockharley from completing what had looked like an inevitable win - Terenure head home with 12.5 points from a gripping tie!

In Kentstown, Knockharley won the toss and put Terenure into bat. A solid opening 45-run partnership for the visitors was followed by a series of cheap dismissals such that the Terenure innings had subsided to 77/6 off 22 overs with only Thomas Shand (26) making any meaningful contribution. 

Terenure were eventually all out for just 122 in the 34th over with the wickets largely shared between Brandon Kruger (who finished with 5/22) and Daneyaal Janjua (3/25). Janjua’s haul included the key wicket of Terenure captain, Henry Dall, who was adjudged lbw in the 15th over from which the innings never recovered.

Set just 123 for the sixth win of their debut season at this level, Knockharley progressed quickly to 36 before losing Kruger for a run-a-ball 24. Fellow opener Sayed Zubair continued to steadily accumulate runs whilst wickets continued to fall with some regularity at the other end, 2/32 for Henry Dall and 3 for Aamir Bafanda such that Knockharley were reduced to 100/6 in the 30th over. Bafanda then removed Kashif Ali as Knockharley stuttered towards the winning post. Dall and Bafanda had combined to bowl 20 overs yielding 6 wickets for just 59 runs.

Bhavic Tukrel then returned to dismiss Jack Condie to leave the home side 8 down on the brink of victory. Zubair completed his 50 before Aabis Mirza fell caught & bowled to Thomas Shand with the scores level! Shand then held his nerve to dismiss number 11 Ahmed Kayani without addition to the score.

Zubair was left stranded on 52* as Terenure snatched a brilliant tie from the jaws of what had looked like an inevitable defeat! Shand the hero at the end with 2/7!
