FIRST TEAM LEAGUE -CHAMPIONS THE HILLS FINISH ON A HIGH AT THE VINEYARD!

The concluding round of fixtures in the IBI Corporate Finance First Team League took place earlier today. The Hills (already confirmed as 2026 Champions) completed a comprehensive 80-run win over Adamstown whilst runner-up Knockharley made light work of North Kildare at Kentstown.

In the final game of the season at Farmer’s Cross, the home side finished their season with a comprehensive win over Terenure on the back of a match-winning knock from their number 3, Dineth Sumanasinghe (102* off 70 balls).

THE HILLS BEAT ADAMSTOWN BY 80 RUNS

Having been put into bat at home, The Hills posted 249 which was in large part underpinned by a destructive 105 from opener Yaseen Sherzad. Such was his dominance that when he was dismissed by Prabhanshu Kamal in the 28th over, he had scored 105 out of a team score at that stage of 159! Solid contributions followed from Andy Kavanagh (33) and Febin Manoj (43) which enabled The Hills to post a decent end-of-season score despite Kamal finishing with a remarkable 7/60 off his 10 overs.

For once this season, the Adamstown batting line up never got going with wickets falling at regular intervals. All of the home-side’s bowlers chipped in whilst Tomas Rooney-Murphy was especially effective yielding just 26 runs off his 10 overs whilst picking up 3 wickets along the way.

Just as The Hills appeared to be closing in on a maximum points win, Shravon Biju (at number 8) and Angad Bawa (at number 10) had other ideas as they extended the Adamstown innings by a further 70 runs for the 9th wicket as The Hills bowlers struggled to close out the innings. Yaseen Sherzad eventually removed Biju for a well-made 34 before removing Arvind Olaganathan first ball to close out the win for The Hills by 80 runs. 

KNOCKHARLEY BEAT NORTH KILDARE BY 8WICKETS

Knockharley completed a comprehensive 10th win of a brilliant debut season at this level by overcoming North Kildare by 8 wickets at Kentstown. Kashif Ali was the star with the ball (4/24) whilst Brandon Kruger showed his class with the bat as he plundered the Kildare attack chasing down the 156 target in just 23 overs as Kruger finished unbeaten on 83*.

CORK HARLEQUINS BEAT TERENURE BY 5 WICKETS

Terenure travelled to Farmer’s Cross with just pride on the line for both teams. Having been asked to bat first, Terenure lost wickets at regular intervals whilst also maintaining a healthy run-rate such that they found themselves 180 all out in only the 31st over. Donal Lynch made a quick-fire 39 off 24 balls whilst tailender Naveed Khan extended the innings with 30 off just 21 balls at number 9. Matt Brewster and Umer Khan did most of the damage with the ball for Quins as they finished with combined figures of 6/92.

In reply, despite the loss of some early wickets, Dineth Sumanasinghe provided the back-bone of the Quins chase, scoring his runs at a brisk pace. The match-defining partnership for Quins was between Sumanasinghe and the veteran Seanan Jones as they combined to add 106 runs for the 5th wicket in just 14 overs to secure a well-deserved second win for the home side in what has been a challenging league campaign. Sumanasinghewas the star of the show for Quins as he finished on 102* off just 70 balls (14X4s, 4X6s). Quins by 5 wickets with almost 20 overs to spare.
