Halverstown CC, Mullingar CC, Carlow CC are all participating in a pilot programme with Cricket Leinster focused on the growth and development of their respective youth & female cricket programmes.
As part of the pilot programme, the clubs are working with specific schools in their catchment areas to provide cricket participation opportunities to the pupils involved. In each case, a key objective is to develop strong and sustainable school-to-club partnerships aimed at increasing youth & female participation at club level.
In reciprocation for each of the clubs deploying their own local coaching resources, Cricket Leinster is providing the clubs with dedicated development funding support.
This model is already showing positive returns including major growth in youth participation at Halverstown CC where there are now over 70 registered youth players.
We hugely appreciate the support of Kildare Sports Partnership in supporting our development work at Halverstown.

In each case, the club is working with specific schools within their own catchment area:
Halverstown: Hewetson School Clane, Athy Model School, St Davids NS Naas, Brannoxtown NS, Kildare Town Educate Together, Newbridge Educate Together, Two Mile House NS, St Brigid’s and Scoil Mhuire, Ballymore Eustace.
Mullingar: Presentation National School, All Saints National School, Mullingar Educate Together National School (METNS).
Carlow: Rathvilly National School, St Fiacc’s National School, Presentation College Carlow.
Our thanks to all club coaches who are working tirelessly on this youth development initiative - we are happy to support you in this worthy endeavour including Stuart Conroy, Jim Hodgson, Paulo Rosa (Halverstown), Rob Delaney, Trudi Trower, Alina Siddiqui (Mullingar) and Jimmy Dooley, Mohammad Rafique (Carlow).

A similar, locally resourced cricket development programme is also being planned at Kilkenny CC.
Speaking about the new CL development support, Rob Delaney at Mullingar CC commented as follows:-
“At Mullingar CC, we very much appreciate the targeted development funding support being provided by Cricket Leinster. It will assist us in providing local schools with cricket coaching and a pathway to club cricket.”
Alison MacColl, Chair at Carlow CC, added the following perspective:-
“Carlow CC is delighted with the new funding support we are receiving from Cricket Leinster.
This support will greatly assist us in developing sustainable cricket links between the local schools and our club on the grounds at Carlow College St Patrick’s.”
