An excellent all-round performance from Gemma Sargent was the catalyst for a 9-wicket victory for Mount Temple today, as they secured the Girls Schools Senior Cup in Park Avenue.

Having won the toss, Mount Temple bowled first, and were on the front foot straight away, as Haley Moore and Sophie O'Toole opened proceedings tightly, before the latter claimed the key wicket of Skerries skipper Aimee Scollard.

Tight bowling saw the Malahide Road side keeping their opponents in check, however with just two wickets down, Vanessa Scollard had made her way to 34 and given the side an opportunity to attack late on.
Sargent however returned to the attack, claiming three wickets in her second spell to finish as the pick of the bowlers with 3/18.
Having lost an early wicket, the Sargent show continued, as alongside Julie McNally they continuously picked gaps, pushing their runs excellently to keep pressure on the field and gradually built the score to be 66/1 after 8 overs.

At that stage, both batters opened their shoulders, McNally found the boundary on the drive, before pulling through mid-wicket, whilst Sargent targeted the straight boundaries.
Sargent brought up her half-century with just 2 needed to win, before McNally completed the job, seeing the side to victory in the 12th over.

Mount Temple captain Haley Moore was presented the trophy by CL President for 2026, Brian Kelleher in the post match presentation.

Congratulations to Mount Temple Comprehensive, the 2026 Girls Senior Schools Cup Champions! Well done to all players, teachers, coaches and officials associated with the team on this brilliant achievement!
