Both sides were missing key players this evening due to a combination of International duty and injuries. The prize on offer was a semi-final place away to Merrion on Tuesday 30th June.
Having been asked to bat first at The Village, Leinster’s innings was underpinned by a 93-run partnership off 68 balls between overseas player Alex Sheedy and Leinster captain Jenny Sparrow. The pair came together with the score on 45/2 in the 9th over. Sparrow was dismissed in the final over of the innings for a run a ball 40 whilst Sheedy carried her bat for an unbeaten 61* off just 55 balls.

Set 139 to win at almost 7 an over, opener Meg Thompson got Malahide off to a decent start scoring 47 including 7 fours until she was bowled by Lauren Torpey to leave the home side 72/2 in the 12th over with still lots to do.

Sarah Condron was then joined by the Malahide captain, Anna Kerrison and together they maintained the momentum of the chase taking the team score to 106 in the 16th over as Kerrison in particular hit the accelerator until she was run out by Ella McMahon for 18.
At this point, Malahide needed 33 off 29 balls with 7 wickets in-hand. Haley Moore then supported Condron in taking Malahide to the brink of victory which was secured by Condron with 3 balls to spare by 6 wickets.
Condron did a brilliant job in steering the home side into the semi-finals with an unbeaten 41* off 45 balls.
Leinster 138/3 (Alex Sheedy 61*, Jenny Sparrow 40)
Malahide 141/4 off 19.3 overs (Meg Thompson 47, Sarah Condron 41*)
