Cricket Leinster – Divisions 1 & 2 – Focus Group

As discussed at our recent Cricket Leinster AGM, the Executive Committee has decided to establish a Focus Group to address the following challenges:

• The structure of Division One and Two competitions for 2018 following on from the changes brought in for this year (2017 season) including the Leinster Senior Cup, Alan Murray T/20 competition and the League.

• Cricket Leinster’s preference regarding restrictions or otherwise for overseas players.

• Regulations and other matters relating to the playing of cricket in Divisions 1 & 2.

We are very keen to ensure that the composition of this Group is representative of the views of the clubs involved (and in particular those who play cricket at this level) - we are therefore requesting that interested parties put their names forward to participate in this forum by contacting Philip Smith by e-mail (philip.smith@cricketleinster.ie).

This Focus Group will be chaired by Philip Smith, our General Manager and will also include Albert van der Merwe (Leinster Lightning Coach), Philip Deacon (Chairperson of Open Competitions Committee) and Kevin Gallagher (LCU&SA) to allow existing knowledge to feed into the process.

It is anticipated that the Focus Group will submit its’ recommendations to the Cricket Committee by end September 2017 having had the season in which to reach conclusions and to review the 2017 season. The objective is to achieve a clear direction in good time for the 2018 season.
