CL DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (NORTH LEINSTER) – JOB ADVERT (OCTOBER 2026)

As you may have heard, Brían O’Rourke will be leaving Cricket Leinster in March 2027 having fulfilled his role with distinction over more than two decades.

Brían is understandably keen for a change at this stage which will allow him to fulfil a less demanding role whilst leveraging his cricket, swimming, water polo, rugby, GAA and wider sports development experience. In this context, he intends to establish a coaching business of his own, something he has been considering for some time and for which he will have our full support.

Brían has been synonymous with underage coaching in Leinster and has directly contributed to the growth and development of countless Inter-provincial and International cricketers over the past 30 years.

He has also been heavily involved at inter-provincial level, leading Leinster Under 15s at every tournament since 1997 enjoying an unprecedented and unrivalled level of success (no fewer than 18 CI interprovincial titles at U15 level) over that period. The Leinster boys’ squads under his tutelage are the envy of other provinces.

Over 150 young Leinster Transition Year cricketers have spent time on placements at both English and South African schools since St Michael’s College student Ross Garvey visited Muir College in South Africa in 2002. We have another group of young Leinster cricketers lined up to travel to South Africa again next January. It is hoped we can continue these important overseas links for many years to come.

Cricket continues to grow at Primary schools level thanks to the many school visits carried out in the province by our development staff. The stronger cricket playing primary schools partake in the hardball Leprechaun Cup.

Whilst Brian’s skills and experience will not be easily replaced, it is very helpful that he will continue to run our full off-season programme (both CL Boys & Fingal) to completion until the end of March 2027. This will provide us with six months to effect an orderly succession.

As a consequence of Brían’s planned departure, we are now inviting applications for an experienced Development Manager (North Leinster). This role would be part of the Cricket Leinster Senior Management team and have primary accountabilities as follows:

- Responsible for all CL development in the Fingal Area (with dedicated budget for junior coaches).

- Oversight of CL Development personnel in Dublin City, Meath and other North Leinster areas.

- CL Relationship Management with relevant Local Authorities and LSPs

- Oversight of the CL Boys Underage Representative Programme including indoor and outdoor training, hosting, tours and overseas activity (up to and including Under 19s).

This senior role is a permanent and pensionable post reporting directly to the CL General Manager. The salary and benefits package will reflect the breadth of accountabilities and associated seniority of the role.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

- Strategic thinking and growth mindset. Bias for action.

- Excellent organisation skills, results oriented and strong attention to detail.

- Strong and positive interpersonal skills

- Track record and demonstrable commitment to the growth of women’s & girls cricket and cricket4all (including table cricket, adaptive cricket etc).

- Demonstrable understanding of club and school cricket.

- Proven track record of coaching and delivery in a high performance cricket environment.

- Level 2 or above Cricket Coach Certification.

- Full, clean driving licence with own transport.

- Clean Garda Vetting and current safeguarding certification.

- Good standard of pc literacy including use of MS packages.
