AOIBHINN DALY WINS CL WOMEN’S MOST IMPROVED PLAYER AWARD 2026!

The final award to be announced for the CL Women’s Competitions for the 2026 season is the Farrell-Pilkington Trophy, which is awarded to the Most Improved Player for the 2026 season!

Past winners of this award include a prestigious roll of honour, featuring Irish internationals Sarah Forbes (Pembroke), Christina Coulter-Reilly (Clontarf), Amy Hunter (Malahide) and Una Raymond-Hoey (Clontarf) as well as CL underage pathway players Annabel Walsh (Clontarf) and Sarah Prendergast (Terenure) who claimed the award in 2025 and 2023 respectively.

This season the award is going to another member of the CL Pathway, as the winner is Aoibhinn Daly of Terenure.

When compared with the 2025 season, Aoibhinn scored 387 runs in Women’s Competitions in 2026, an increase of 281 on the previous season as well as doubling her average in doing so. Having scored just 22 runs in Division 2 in 2025, she finished the 2026 season averaging 22.5 in that competition showing a brilliant improvement in that particular area.

On the bowling front, she also increased her number of wickets from 6 in 2025 to 23 in 2026, with her bowling average falling by an incredible 42.52 over the course of the season.

This figure represents almost 70% of her career wickets taken to date, increasing her overall tally from just 10 at the beginning of the season to 33 at the end of 2026.

The stand-out all-round performance for Daly came in her final game of the season, when she claimed 4/19 and followed up with an unbeaten 42 from just 31 deliveries in a performance which secured victory for Terenure over Balbriggan.
