  3. Bottom of Div 6 to be decided this weekend?
28th August 2015 by Paul Reynolds

Bottom of Div 6 to be decided this weekend?

The last few weekends of the season are going to boil down to two very distinct competitions in Division 6. At the bottom, any two of the bottom four could finish in the bottom two, whilst at the top, the top two places are to be fought over by the top three.

At the bottom, the quartet are Railway Union 4, Sandyford 1, Longford 1 and Rush 1. However, it is very much Railway and Sandyford who are the two in biggest trouble, and their fight could come to a close this weekend. On Saturday, Sandyford play third place North County 3, and unless they get more than three points, they will be doomed. Should they get at least trio of points, they will then need a big win in their last match at home to Longford 1 on September 20th.

Railway Union 4 make the trip to Longford on Sunday, and anything other than a win will mean they are guaranteed to finish in the bottom two. A win would mean they have two further chances to save themselves, needing wins over North County 3 and Rush 2 to survive.

At the top, North County 3 have the easier final few matches, with very winnable matches against Sandyford and Railway Union. Should they win those two matches, it looks as if the other team to finish inthe top two will be the winner of the Knockharley 1 vs Clontarf 3 match on September 6th. Knockharley's other (must win) game is at home to Longford on September 13th, whilst Clontarf also have to play two matches against Rush 2.

Division 6 batting - qualification 100 runs

Four players pass our hallmark of quality, with over 250 runs at an average of over 40. Knockharley's Emmet Craik, Rush's 16 year old star Dean Brogan, the slightly older star, Khizer Khan of Railway, and Shamas Sarfraz of Longford.
