Womens Branch Division 1 - Round 4 Summary

Leinster 1 v The Hills 1 at Observatory Road

The Hills yet to taste victory travelled to Leinster and were asked to bat, and things really never took off. Alana Ryan was bowled by Amy Kenealy for 0 followed by Cliodhna O'Reardon run out for 0 leaving them 2-3. Hannah Corcoran fell lbw to Amy Kenealy for 12 followed by Aisling Byrne another run out victim for 6. Klarrisa Walser was bowled by Sophie MacMahon again for 0, Natasha Morton was bowled by Isabella Fitzgibbon for 1. The Hills now in deep trouble at 6-22. Soon it was 7-30 when Veronica Fay-Watt was caught by Valmai Gee off the bowling of Sophie MacMahon. Rhiannon Pope eight to fall run out for 2. Amy Benson and Anna Mooney put on 17 until Benson was run out for 11. Abi Leonard was bowled by Jenny Sparrow for 0 and Anna Mooney ended up 6 not out. The Hills finally all out for 55. The bowlers were obviously on top. Amy Kenealy 2-6 from 4 overs. Isabella Fitzgibbon 1-6, Sophie MacMahon 2-12 and Jenny Sparrow 1-0 the wicket takers.

Leinster were never in any trouble Valmai Gee and Laura Delany hitting the 56 required runs in 6.3 overs. Valmai Gee 20 not out in 14 balls. Laura Delany 27 from 27 balls also not out. The Hills bowlers didn't get early breakthroughs they required and all suffered. A facile 10 wicket victory for Leinster.

YMCA 1 v Malahide 1 at Claremont Road

Malahide won the toss and invited YM to have a bat. Mary Waldron and Paris Crowe opened for YMCA. Crowe was caught by Lucy O'Reilly off Robyn Lewis for 1 when the score had reached 15. This brought Caoimhe McCann to the crease to join Mary Waldron. The pair batted beautifully together thanking the score to 107 before McCann was caught by Gaby Lewis off the bowling of Roisin Staunton for 54 from 31 balls with 8 fours and 1 six. Mary Waldron fell shortly after c&b by Roisin Staunton for 51 from 54 balls hitting 6 fours. Niamh Walsh was bowled by Roisin Staunton for 7. Aisling McCormack also fell to Staunton for 0 caught by Lucy O'Reilly. Anna Kerrison not out 10 and Sarah Condron not out 2 brought Malahide to 145 for 5 in their 20 overs. Roisin Staunton bowled particularly well taking 4-22. Robyn Lewis 1-26 the other wicket taker.

Gaby Lewis and Jennifer Gray opened up for YM with Sarah Condron and Paris Crowe taking the ball for Malahide. The openers set about the bowling with relish putting on 106 for the first wicket. Jennifer Gray caught by Mary Waldron off the bowling of Aisling McCormack for 23. The score moved on to 132 when Robyn Lewis was bowled by Anna Kerrison. Lucy O'Reilly 12 not out and the imperious Gaby Lewis 75 not out from 37 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes had YMCA home in 13.2 overs. Malahide's bowlers all suffered with Aisling McCormack 1-33 and Anna Kerrison 1-18 the wicket takers. YMCA easing home by 8 wickets.

Clontarf 1 v Pembroke 1 at Castle Avenue

Clontarf won the toss and batted but were soon in trouble when Kerry Tomlinson was bowled by Louise Little for 4. Susan Lawless and Tess Maritz brought the score to 24 when Maritz was bowled by Cliona Tucker for 8. Susan Lawless was caught by Louise Little also from the bowling of Tucker. Lara Maritz was caught by Anna Beale from the bowling of Mhairi Nicoll for 10, the score now 4-47. Aoife Brennan and Keeva Vickers brought the score to 86 when Vickers was c&b by Cathy Murphy for a well made 19. Molly Butler finished 1 not out. Aoife Brennan battled hard for 24 not out. Clontarf finishing 93-5 from their 20 overs. All Pembroke's bowlers bowled very well. Cliona Tucker 2-10, Louise Little 1-16, Mhairi Nicoll 1-14 and Cathy Murphy 1-21 the wicket takers.

Louise Little and Shauna Kavanagh opened for Pembroke and Lara Maritz and Molly Butler took the ball for Clontarf. When the score reached 41 Shauna Kavanagh fell lbw to Keeva Vickers for 17, followed immediately by Louise Little bowled Lara Maritz for 11. Pembroke now 41-2. But that was as good as it got for Clontarf. Orla Prendergast not out 29 from 24 balls and Clare Shillington not out 21 from 10 balls saw Pembroke safely home in 12.3 overs. Clontarf bowlers tried hard, but really didn't have enough runs on the board. Lara Maritz 1-22 and Keeva Vickers 1-24 the wicket takers. Pembroke winning by 8 wickets.
