The Leinster Lightning selectors have the pleasure in announcing the following match day squad for our Inter-Provincial 50-Over game against the North-West Warriors this Saturday the 16th August in Strabane Cricket Club.
John Mooney (Capt-North County), John Anderson (Merrion), Andrew Balbirnie (Middlesex / Pembroke), Tyrone Kane (Merrion), Fintan McAllister (Malahide), Barry McCarthy (Pembroke), Cormac McLoughlin (The Hills), Andrew Poynter (Clontarf), Stuart Poynter (Durham), Eddie Richardson (North County), Max Sorensen (The Hills), Albert van der Merwe (YMCA).
We are delighted to welcome Stuart Poynter to the squad for the first time this season, his schedule with Durham finally allowing him a gap to be considered for selection. Similarly, Andrew Balbirnie has a weekend off from Middlesex and makes the trip to Strabane. Pat Collins is still unavailable for selection having fractured two toes playing for his club recently.
This is our second 50-over game of the season, the first having been a hard-fought victory over the same opposition on duckworth-Lewis in The Hills back in May, a game in which Balbirnie showed his class with a brilliant run-a-ball 103*.
The first ball will be bowled at 10:45am on Saturday and admission is free.
