It was a tense finish to the first game of the day in Kenure today, as following a nail-biting run-chase, Ongar running out three wicket winners with five overs to spare arguably didn't do justice to quite how tight the Minor Cup Final really was.

Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Knockharley could never really fully recover from a sluggish start, losing two wickets in the opening four overs. Led by skipper Killian Molloy, they took the score to 31 after six, however, in spite of some lusty blows in the middle from Geo Johny, they proceeded to lose further wickets to be 73/4 after 12 overs, a position from which the innings could go either way. It went in Ongar's favour, and quickly as after being gifted a five run start to their innings for Knockharley consistently running in the danger zone, before they shot out the final 6 wickets for just 40 runs, to keep the men from Kentstown to 115 all out in the final over of their innings.

A near identical opening 6 overs saw Ongar also 36/2, with their openers back in the hutch courtesy of Binu Babu, however with the knowledge that they were chasing just 116 for victory, they were able to consolidate and recover to 65/4 at the halfway stage. Some more madness and a brilliant spell from Geo Jacob saw Ongar 7 down, however an unbroken 28-run stand for the 8th wicket helped them across the line with just under five overs remaining.

A massive congratulations to Ongar, claiming the Minor Cup for the 2025 season, and as ever a huge thanks must go to Rush CC for hosting the final and their continued support.
