  3. WINS FOR KILDARE & ADAMSTOWN (SAT 16.8.2025)
16th August 2025 by Cricket Leinster

WINS FOR KILDARE & ADAMSTOWN (SAT 16.8.2025)

QUINS LOST TO NORTH KILDARE BY 4 RUNS

Having won the toss and put North Kildare in to bat at Farmer’s Cross, the Quins bowling attack then wilted in the field as North Kildare opener Yash Kalasannavar amassed a brilliant 156 (22x4, 3X6) ably supported by captain Josh Uddin (44) with whom he put on 112 for the 4th wicket. Sayed Mehdi Shah (43 off 38) and Abdul Aryan (43 off just 14 balls) provided further impetus in driving the visitors to an imposing 365/8 off their 50 overs. Only Amit Singh Dangi emerged relatively unscathed in taking 2/54 off his 10 overs.

The Quins openers then smashed 91 for the first wicket in just 11 overs to give the home side hope that the chase could be achieved. Adam Hickey was dismissed for 47 and then his fellow opener Sumantu Powale retired hurt on 54. Devon Joyce and Seanan Jones then looked to add momentum to the chase adding 131 for the 4th wicket before Jones was removed by Abdul Aryan (3/51) with the score on 240 after 33 overs. Joyce continued to power on completing a fine 108 off just 78 balls (including 13X4s and 5x6s).

Matt Brewster (at number 7) then took up the chase with useful support from Dineth Sumanasinghe as the pair added 53 for the seventh wicket to all but seal what seemed like an improbable win at the half-way stage. Brewster was dismissed for 53 (off just 35 balls). Akhilesh Sharma then removed Sumanasinghe in the 49th over to leave Quins needing 9 off the last over. Ali Elahi held his nerve in bowling the last over as Kildare prevailed (just) by 4 runs.

ADAMSTOWN BEAT TERENURE BY 71 RUNS

At Airlie Park, Adamstown won the toss and took full advantage of perfect batting conditions to post 288/8 off their allotted overs – Dinesh Antony once again dominating the Terenure attack in recording his second top-score against the D6W team this season, adding to his 89* in the previous tie, eventually being run out for a well-made 111 with the team score on 257 with 4 overs remaining.

Ton (111) for Dinesh Antony

There were two other important knocks for Adamstown, first from opener Naranjan Shankar (52 off 60 balls) and later in the innings from Kunal Nagare who finished with 57 and ensured that the home side went into the tea break in a very strong position.

In reply, Terenure were quickly reduced to 17/3 in the sixth over and it looked like the game had the potential for an early finish. Overseas player Hankce Von Rauenstein (51) and Zeeshan Mumtaz (44) had other ideas as they combined very effectively to add 106 for the 4th wicket. Mumtaz’s departure brought captain Donal Lynch (31) to the wicket and he then partnered with Von Rauenstein to add a further 55 for the 5th wicket. Unfortunately for Terenure, no one else could stay with Von Rauenstein as Aditya Shah ran through the tail to finish with figures of 5/34 – Terenure all out for 217 and a win for Adamstown by 71 runs.
