As anyone who has been following the news about the Match Centre will know we have been unable to bring Live Scores due to policy and technology changes in CricHQ who supply the software. This has meant that club that rely on iPads to score their matches can no longer transmit the Live Scores.
Given that we are in mid-season there are limits to what can be done but Cricket Leinster has introduced some new measures which will go some way towards filling the gap. For this, however, we need the cooperation of scorers and the cricketing public.
There are a number of ways in which match updates can be provided through the Cricket Leinster Match Centre [CLMC].
[a] the best solution for the moment is for those clubs with available laptops to download the PC version of Total Cricket Scorer. Live Scores can be sent to the TCS Website and a link passed through to the CLMC]. There is no cost for the software [which includes a licence to send Live Scores]. Visitors to the website should note, however, that this is only likely to be available in a small number of clubs. Terenure have confirmed that this is possible for their matches and a few other clubs are looking into what is possible in this regard.
for those who continue to use iPads it is possible to send an updated scorecard during the game. If this was done regularly [say after every 10 overs] then it would be possible for others to keep track of the match through the CLMC. Scorers please note that the scorecard must be sent from an e/mail address that is recognised by the CLMC. If you haven’t sent scorecards successfully before or are in any doubt just send your e/mail address to admin@cricketleinster.ie and it will be sorted for you. For those using the website - especially on mobile devises, remember that you have to check the ‘SCORE CARD’ option rather than ‘UPDATES’
[c] to make it easier for anyone to send in scores and summary results, Cricket Leinster has set up a special mobile phone number to which you can send text messages. The CLMC moderator on the day will be able to take these and key in the details against the relevant match. The mobile number is 087 2780309
All captains or managers of teams [all forms of cricket] please take note sending summary results at the end of the day is simply a text message away. It would be great if we could get all the results up on the day so that visitors to the Cricket Leinster website can get a full picture of what has happened the next day.
In the text message please give name of both teams, competition, result [Club wins by ** runs / wickets] and name of sender.
[d] Of course anyone who is active using tweets to update scores can continue to use this method with the #cricketleinster and #Match ID Number. This is easier for the Moderator as the information goes directly to the CLMC.
[e] Finally, there is a special authorisation that allows approved volunteers within clubs to send updates directly to the CLMC from a computer via a special e/mail address for each club. If anyone is willing to create a match narrative [short comment at the end of each over] this is probably the way to go. Clubs that have forgotten their e/mail authorisation should contact the above.
Please note it is a number used simply to receive text messages.
