Rush travelled to Claremont Road for their first round tie in the IBI Corporate Finance Leinster Senior Cup against Premier League's in form team YMCA. There was plenty of rain about so the game ended up reduced to 31 overs a side. YMCA won the toss and batted.
Jack Tector and Oliver Gunning opened for YM. Allan Eastwood and Alex Neary faced them with the ball. The openers had reached 30 in the fourth over when Gunning was caught by Jeremy Bray off the bowling of Eastwood. Eight runs later Jack Tector went lbw to Neary. Good start from Rush with both openers back in the hutch. Simi Singh and Harry Tector settled things down and then got going. They brought the score to 126 in the 18th over when Harry Tector was bowled by Stephen Doheny. Sam Murphy joined Simi Singh and the the pair batted well, bringing the score to 164 where Singh went lbw to Aaron McGuire. PJ Moor and Sam Murphy brought the score to 209. Moor was last to go for 11 bowled by Subramanya Ramnathpur. Bobby Gamble finished not out 24 and Sam Murphy a fine 52 not out in 42 balls. YM finishing up 239 for 5 in their 31 overs.
The Rush attack all suffered. Allen Eastwood 1-57, Alex Neary 1-25, Stephen Doheny 1-39, Subramanya Ramnathpur 1-46, Aaron McGuire 1-47 the wicket takers.
Stephen Doheny and Prashanth Viswanath opened up for Rush. Jarred Barnes and Bobby Gamble opened the bowling for YMCA. Things started really badly for Rush, Doheny caught Sam Murphy off Barnes for 0. Tipu Gull went for 0 caught by Gamble again off the bowling of Barnes. Rush were 2-0. Jeremy Bray came and went when the score reached 10 caught by Harry Tector from the bowling of Gamble. Conor Mullen and Viswanath brought the score to 42 when Mullen went bowled by Sam Streak for 9. Neil Rock didn't last too long caught by Barnes again off the bowling of Streak. Rush struggling at 5-51. Viswanath fell when the score reached 61caught by Gamble off Streak who as bowling beautifully. Subramanya Ramnathpur fell lbw to Harry Tector. Shahid Iqbal was batting well trying to settle thing down. Alex Neary batted well for 23 from 31 balls before being bowled by Barnes. Allan Eastwood and Shahid Iqbal batted out the remainder Eastwood finishing 10 not out and Iqbal 34 not out. Rush finishing up 143 for 8 from their 31 overs.
All YMCA's bowlers bowled well. Jarred Barnes 3-21, Sam Streek 3-22, Bobby Gamble 1-14, Simi Singh 0-19, Harry Tector 1-33, Aviral Shukla 0-15.
