The Senior IIs final was played today at the High School in Rathgar – many thanks to Adam Malin for organizing both the final and the league. Colaiste Padraig got off to a good start with an opening partnership of 35 between H Ahmad (13) and the impressive K Shah (38). Colaiste Padraig built upon this was a second wicket stand of 51 between Shah and H. Maan. The dismissal of Maan chasing a wide ball saw Blackrock get back into the game and a flurry of late wickets from A. Mays (4-22) restricted Colaiste Padraig to 108 for 8. S Keane was impressive with his pace and accuracy.
The Blackrock chase never really got going. Some lusty blows were interspersed with wickets that kept Colaiste Padraig on top. A Mays (12) and captain H Lloyd (13) gave Blackrock brief hope. However excellent and accurate bowling backed by impressive and enthusiastic fielding made life very difficult for the Blackrock batsmen. Bowlers H Mann (4-15), H Mahmood, (3-10), K Shah (3-24) and captain A Tabassum (0-7) all caught the eye with their accuracy.
Late resistance by R. Murphy was to no avail as Colaiste Padraig won comfortably by 44 runs.
