19th June 2014 by Amy Kenealy

Leprechaun Cup Cailíní 2014 Report

Yesterday, the Leprechaun Cup Cailiní finals day took place in Malahide Cricket Club on the hottest day of the summer so far!

Last year we held the first ever Cricket Leinster all-day event to promote the involvement of girls cricket at primary school level, so it was great to see the day running so smoothly today.

This event took place in Malahide with the help of Reinhardt Strydom, Naomi Scott-Hayward, Jennifer Gray, Caoilfhionn Rowan, Matt Lunson, Cameron Shoebridge, Colm Mooney and Amy Kenealy

We had 15 schools taking park in regional blitzes in Corduff, Mulhudddart and Terenure.

The three schools that went through to finals day were

  •     Balrothery National School
  •     Scoil Mobhi-Milverton
  •     Castleknock National School

We had some quality performances throughout the day with high execution of skills.

First semi final:

Balrothery v Milverton

Balrothery (1) 87/6 (Megan McAuley 10*, Emma Mullens 9*, Sarah Mc 2-3, Robyn 1-7)

Milverton 101/4 (Cathy Coleman 17*, Clarissa Walser 12*, Lauren Richardson 3-10, Anna Corry 1-5)

Milverton won by 6 wickets.

Second semi final:

Castleknock 147/6 (Marie Cormican 16*, Emily Rafter 10*, Abbey Meehan, 3-15, Joanne 1-10)

Balrothery (1) 75/6 (Kate Leahy 9*, Jade Grassi 8*, Emma Denner 1-3, Victoria Knox 1-5)

Castleknock won by 4 wickets

FINAL:

Castleknock 47/5 (Marie Cormican 11*, Ali Keenan 10*, Cathy Coleman 1-6, Klarissa Walser 1-12)

Milverton 95/1 (Jane McGuire 18*, Cathy Coleman 17*, Maisie Lunson 1-24)

Milverton win by 9 wickets

There was a trophy awarded to the winner:
Scoil Moibhi-Milverton.
