Last summer saw the Sherwin O’Riordan sponsored Leinster Lightning collect their 25th interprovincial title since the series was revived in 2013. Set against a total of eight won by the other three provinces, it shows the strength that lies in our province, with the best players, coaches and facilities producing results on the field.

The 2026 season saw a host of records smashed, notably Tim Tector’s record 507 T20 runs in a season and 206 in a festival, Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector’s new IP50 record partnership of 212, and Tucker’s five catches in an innings.

One record that passed under the radar however, was that of George Dockrell who became the first man to play 100 IP matches for Lightning when he played against Munster at the Mardyke in June. He finished the season with 112 games, joined in the club by Lorcan Tucker who has now turned out 106 times for his province.

Only one other man has played 100 times for Leinster – Brendan O’Brien played 102 between 1963 and 1988. Andy McBrine (North-West Warriors) is the only other player to have a century of IPs for one province under his belt, with 143. Shane Getkate (Warriors & Knights) played 109 times.
