Focus Group for Leinster Women’s Cricket
It has been decided to establish a Focus Group to assist in defining how Women's Cricket in Leinster will operate from the 2018 season onwards.
It is anticipated that this Focus Group will address the following challenges:
- The structure of competitions for 2018 following on from the changes brought in for this year (2017 season) and any issues experienced to-date.
- The need to increase overall participation rates in terms of memberships at club level (retention of existing members, recruitment of new members and development of new teams/participating clubs).
- Regulations and other matters relating to the playing of Women's cricket including how competitions should be managed and run.
We are very keen to ensure that the composition of this Group is representative of the views of the clubs involved across all three Divisions - we are therefore requesting that interested parties (including players, parents, administrators and others) put their names forward to participate in this Forum by contacting Philip Smith by e-mail (
philip.smith@cricketleinster.ie).
It would be very helpful if people could indicate their willingness to participate by Friday 14th July.
In line with the approach which we have taken to the Men's and Youth Focus Groups, this Group will be chaired by Philip Smith and will also include Mary Sharp (Hon Secretary of Cricket Leinster), Ciara Metcalfe (Irish International and Coach with The Hills CC) and Kevin Gallagher (LCU&SA) to allow existing knowledge and expertise to feed into the process.
It is expected that this Focus Group will submit its recommendations in advance of the Annual Club Day in October (date to be confirmed). This will allow for adequate planning time for implementation in advance of the 2018 season.
