Fantasy Table

This week is back-slapping week. There are a lot of congratulations to give out this week and so here is the Reader’s Digest version.

  • YMCA – winners of the RSA Senior Cup for the tenth time,
  • Slieve Bloom – winners, in their first league season, of the Junior Cup,
  • Lionel Jansen [Rush] – first player to pass 1,000 runs this season,
  • Simon Rice [Greystones] – first player to pass 50 wickets this season.
  • Fiachra Tucker [Ireland U15 & Pembroke] – was named tournament MVP at European Championships.

Pat Collins [R&SPU] has retained his lead in the fantasy table, despite his side’s heavy defeat to Pembroke at the weekend. Just one more run would have seen Pat reach the 2,000 point mark for the season. Word has it on Park Avenue that Pat will be returning to Australia after this weekend’s T20 finals day in Sydney Parade. Will he have built a sufficient cushion to keep the top spot to the season’s end? The quality of players, and in some cases the sheer number of games played, would suggest he won’t remain at number one, but his has been a fabulous season whether or not he tops the table in September.

Now with most of the back-slapping done we move on with this week’s figures. Players overall ranking is also shown in each of the categories.

Well that’s your lot for another week. You may still request, or re-request a copy of the figures and points table for yourself, your team, your Clubs and the entire 2,187 players in Leinster (including Cork) from craig@cricket.ie. Thank you to those people who have got in touch, including the three Dublin University members who did so last week.

And a last reminder - the RSA Alan Murray T20 Finals Day takes place this Sunday in Sydney Parade. The first semi-final between North County and R&SPU starts at 11am. There is no entrance fee for the day and the bar will be open and the BBQ sizzling. There will be plenty of room for parking and even picnicking around the ground. If you are not playing on Sunday, pop in at some stage and see the spectacle that is T20 cricket.
