The Leinster Lightning selectors have the pleasure in announcing the following squad for next weeks’ Hanley Energy Inter-Provincial Championship match against the Northern Knights in Leinster Cricket Club.
John Mooney (Capt - Balbriggan); John Anderson (Vice-Capt - Merrion); Yaqoob Ali (YMCA); Joe Carroll (Leinster); George Dockrell (Leinster / Somerset); Tyrone Kane (Merrion); Fintan McAllister (Malahide); Barry McCarthy (Pembroke); Andrew Poynter (Clontarf); Eddie Richardson (North County); Simi Singh (YMCA); Max Sorensen (The Hills); Jack Tector (YMCA).
Following our three rain-affected draws in the Championship to date, it comes down to this winner-takes-all clash in Rathmines, starting on Tuesday. The squad is similar to that which was selected for the recent abandoned match in Bready, with the only changes being the return of Tyrone Kane and the inclusion of George Dockrell for his first Championship selection, on his club ground. Barry McCarthy has also been included as cover for Kane, should he not have fully recovered from his injury in time.
A win for the Lightning next week will secure the 3-day trophy and complete an unprecedented clean-sweep of the Inter-Provincial titles this year.
The action starts in Rathmines at 10:30am on Tuesday the 8th September and admission is free.
