It was game that befitted the first ‘Senior’ fixture of 2026 as Terenure were ultimately comfortable winners against Knockharley, a victory which booked their place in the next round of the LHW Financial Planning Leinster Senior Cup against The Hills, who they will host on May 16th.

Things got off to an even start with a flurry of early boundaries from the Knockharley openers setting the tone, before Kripesh Shetty bounced back for Terenure removing both of the Kentstown side’s opening pair, leaving them 42/2 after the PowerPlay.

This brought together Muhammad Nawaz and Sayed Zubair who put on a solid partnership of 52 before Nawaz fell foul of an incredible run out from Shetty. From there the two sides traded blows with the next 3 wickets falling but only after middling 30 run partnerships.
After 30 overs Knockharley had been reduced to 130/5, this brought Daneyaal Janjua came to the crease. He rode his luck early, offering a couple of opportunities that the Terenure side failed to take. This proved to be a fatal error as Janjua caught fire blasting the bowling to all parts and in doing so bringing up a sensational hundred off the last ball of the innings.

When all was said and done the unbeaten 8th wicket partnership added 69 in 5.2 overs to carry their side to an over par early season score of 271.
Terenure’s chase got off to a solid start, having sutained the early loss of Gareth Morgan for 3, Cotter and Dall set about their task. Together they moved the score to 48 after 9 overs. Unfortunately for ‘The Clee’ just as they started to pick up momentum the rain came.

What looked like a quick shower led to a longer than expected delay meaning that at 7:15 Cotter and Dall returned requiring a further 116 in 81 balls. From here it was simply the Dall show, Cotter kept him company to start, bringing the score to 67 before the opener fell for 23. Beyond that however, Dall needed very little support as he walloped 16 boundaries on his way to 101* off 74 balls, as his first game as captain saw him leading his side home by 5 wickets with 12 balls to spare.
