  3. Clontarf the first issue to be sorted in Division 7?
26th August 2015 by Paul Reynolds

Clontarf the first issue to be sorted in Division 7?

The first Division 7 unknown can become a known tonight, when Clontarf 4 take on Castleknock 1. If the match is rained off, or if Clontarf lose, then they will be guaranteed to finish in the bottom two. They have to win.

Apart from that, not too much is known. Pembroke 4 have become one of the first teams to have finished their season, and as we speak are probably all rolling out of bed, and heading to a Balearic beach. They finished on 57%, which means they cannot be relegated, and are pretty unlilely to be promoted either.

At the top of the table, it looks to be between Merrion 5, North Kildare 2 and Dundrum 2. Dundrum and North Kildare clash this Sunday in Wesley College, befire North Kildare finish their season the Sunday after, at home to Merrion. A tough end to the season, but two wins would probably (but not definitely) bring them the title.

And then to further spice up the last few weeks of Division 7, Dundrum host Merrion on September 13th. All three top teams playing each other in the last three weekends is a fantastic way to end the season, and will ensure that whoever wins the league will be worthy champions.

At the bottom, Clontarf's fate has already been discussed. Above them, it looks to be between Laois 2, Castleknock 1 and Wexford Wanderers 1. There are plenty of matches between the bottom four to come, starting off in Clontarf tonight. Castleknock then travel to Wexford on Saturday,  whilst Laois host Clontarf the day after.

Wexford then host Laois on September 12th, in what is a must win for both sides. There is also a crucial Laois/Wexford Wanderers match that needs to be refixed.

Division 7 batting - qualification 100 runs

Ian Walshe continues to be a quality performer at what ever level he plays, and he leads this year's Divison 7 chart. Kushal Narang also passed the "well played" test, with 258 runs at 43

Division 7 bowling - Qualification 6 wickets

Surprisingly, considering their league positions, Pembroke (4th) and Clontarf (8th) have four of the top five bowlers on this list. Amardepp Singh of North Kildare is the stand out bowler with 15 wickets at 9.53.
