  3. August: OC League Round Up D5 - D8
1st August 2015 by Eddie Lewis

August: OC League Round Up D5 - D8

Phoenix III continue to power ahead at the top of D5 and now are one of only four teams who have a percentage points total at over 90%.* They are unbeaten this season and are now hot favourites to win the title and move up a Division. Merrion IV have slipped back and are now in third position, a fraction below Malahide III. These teams are way ahead of the pack and the second promotion spot looks to be between Malahide and Merrion. The two teams go head to head in a vital clash today in Anglesea Road. At the other end of the table Terenure II are all but down and out with no wins this season. Mullingar and Leinster III are battling it out to avoid the second spot but a couple of wins for either of them could see others drawn into the relegation zone.

There has been plenty of activity in D6 in recent weeks. North County III are still in poll position but Knockharley have closed the gap to less than 2% points. Adamstown are still in third place but have fallen off the leaders [all three have five wins]. No one else in the frame at the moment. Railway IV and Sandyford are detached at the bottom of the table with only one win each.

Some change in positions at the top of D7 with Merrion V now the narrow leaders [not having played since the last checkpoint] as Wexford drop points. Still only 2% points between the top three teams. Dundrum III has moved up to third and North Kildare II has dropped out of top three places - but are still very much in contention. At the other end of the table, Clontarf IV and Laois II are pretty exposed and will need a couple of wins to draw Castleknock into the relegation dogfight.

Leinster IV’s lead at the top of D8 has narrowed over nearest rivals YMCA IV and is now down to less than 2% points. They are, however, well ahead of third placed Bagenalstown who replace Knockharley II [who have lost their last two games] in the top three. At the other end of the table Civil Service II have yet to win a game and look destined for the fall. But there is a tight battle emerging between Dublin University II [39.68%], who have completed their fixtures for the season, Balbriggan II [36%] and Wicklow County [33.14%] to avoid seventh place.
