Another episode of the Slog Sweep

This week apparently Robbo & John Boy have a spring in their steps, apparently it is something to do with the weather!

Andrew Poynter tells the show why now is the right time for him to announce his retirement from international cricket and reflects on the highs and lows.  Suggests that the next step is for each Union to have a few professionals and that Inter-pro cricket is bridging the gap between club & country for young players.

Janice Walsh reports on the women's game. Mary Waldron top scores for Ireland A. Kim Garth scores 70 not out playing in the men's game at the weekend & another 50 for Pembroke ladies as wel

Centuries galore to report in Around the Grounds, with Dan Solway scoring heavily yet again for Pembroke.  Barry Chambers concerned for the local livestock with Donemana's batting and predicts a 99th ton for Decker Curry this weekend. David Holmes waxes lyrical about the Battle of Belmont as CIYMS beat Instonians by 2 runs, runs from Chris Dougherty, Justin Kemp, Andrew White & Nikolai Smith, with Johnny Thompson getting a 5 for.

Justin Kemp "hugely impressed" with the standard of premier league club cricket in Ireland, higher than in South Africa!  Biggest challenge for Irish cricket is the standard of wicket and the no ball rule for short pitched deliveries, you have to be able to play the short ball.  Ireland must play test cricket to improve.

Mooney's Moments - John Boy reflects on former coach Phil Simmons and his stance on West Indian selection.

Ed Joyce, the man in form talks to Robbo about defying the ageing process on the pitch and feeling as good physically as ever.  Great opportunity for Ireland against a Sri Lankan side rebuilding.  Proposed two tier test structure gives greater context to games.

Five pairs of tickets on offer for Ireland v Sri Lanka games; thanks to Flogas.

Sean Hussey, wraps up youth cricket around the country, including Irish U15 trial matches.

Club Corner this week features Pembroke Cricket Club with Director of Cricket, Sean Smyth.
