Thanks to the efforts of Derek Scott, Gerry Byrne, Paul Reynolds, Michael Sharp and others, Cricket Leinster has a unique record of club cricket in Leinster going back to the very beginning of Senior Competitions in 1919. There are records for all Senior Competitions, which includes the Senior, now Premier League, the Championship, the Leinster Senior Cup and the Leinster Senior League Cup played under several names, of every player (nearly 6,000) and every match (nearly 10,000).
The main records have been digitised and over the next period we will be making them available for viewing on the Cricket Leinster website.
We make a start today with the Leinster Senior Career Honour Boards for batting, bowling, all-rounders and fielding.
BATTING
The main Batting Honours Board is headed by Brendan (Ginger) O’Brien who played for Railway Union between 1959 and 2001 and who scored over 20,000 senior runs. Ninety nine players have reached the threshold of 5,000 runs to be included on the Honours Board. The latest to be added, just this year, is Stephen Doheny (Rush and Merrion). Of those that have reached the threshold, the highest average is held by Jeremy Bray (60.84), one of four players with a career average over 50. The others are Andre Botha, Alf Masood and John Anderson.

Ginger O’Brien leads the batting honours with over 20,000 runs.
BOWLING
Bowling records are more complicated than batting due to the change in format to limited overs. As a result there are two Honours Boards, the first with a qualifying threshold of 500 wickets, and the second, for those who played after 1996, with a threshold of 250. Top of the first table is Jimmy Boucher, who played most of his career for Phoenix between 1925 and 1964 and took 1,303 wickets at an average of 11.49. A total of 33 bowlers took 500 wickets or more in their career.
In the modern format, the top wicket-taker is Nazeer Shoukat who took 572 wickets since 1997 (686 in total) and is the only player to take 500 wickets in the modern era. He is followed on the Honours Board by Eddie Richardson (464) and Luke Clinton (431) the only other players with 400 plus wickets.

Nazeer Shaukat leads the bowling honours in modern times with 572 wickets
ALL ROUNDERS
There is a subjective component to deciding how to populate the Honours Board for All-Rounders. The balance between ball and bat has changed over the years and the criteria could change from year to year. Using the most common calculation based on 1 point per run and 20 points per wicket, there are 67 players who attained 10,000 plus points in their career.
The other qualification is that at least a third of the points threshold (3,333) must be for each discipline. The four top all-rounders with over 25,000 points are Jimmy Boucher (33,605), Gerry Duffy (29,144), Alec O’Riordan (27,685) and Alan Lewis (25,006).
The three top wicket keepers with over 500 dismissals are Dara Armstrong (510), Colm Kavanagh (505) and Harry Hill (502). The most catches in the field were taken by Brendan O’Brien (243), followed by Gerry Duffy (238) and Brian Gilmore (231).

Dara Armstrong has the most dismissals (510) as a keeper in senior cricket.
