The last in our series on Leinster Senior Career performances looks at fielding and wicket keepers. The qualification mark for wicket keepers is 250 dismissals. Three players achieved twice this, Dara Armstrong (Rush, Malahide & North County), Colin Kavanagh (Pembroke) and Harry Hill (Pembroke).
In terms of milestones, there is no one currently playing within 50 dismissals of the qualifying mark.
Dara Armstrong has the most dismissals (510) as a keeper in senior cricket.
It is more difficult to determine the exact number of catches in the field. Several players had stints behind the stumps and these have been excluded where known. The late Derek Scott, who compiled the historic records, identified any dismissals as wicket keeper but a few may have slipped through.
Brendan ‘Ginger’ O’Brien (Railway Union) leads the table with 243 catches in the field (there were another 83 as wicket-keeper), followed closely by Gerry Duffy (Leinster), Brian Gilmore (Malahide) and David Ensor (Phoenix).
There are only two current players who have taken more than 100 catches in the field, Kenny Carroll (135) and Eoghan Delany (110).
Kenny Carroll has amassed 135 catches in the field for Railway Union.
Eoghan Delany has taken 110 catches in the field for Clontarf and Dublin University.
