Without doubt the weather this year has been unkind to batsmen and as a result only one, Bill Coghlan from Clontarf, has qualified for the Marchant Cup. In 2011 three players got over 500 runs. As one would expect the averages themselves show a drop where the top three qualifying in 2011 had a higher average then Coghlan this year.

The top three all-rounders in 2011 scored over 70 points each per match – this year only three made it over 60.
