  3. RSA Open Competitions : D4 - D8
14th September 2012 by Eddie Lewis

RSA Open Competitions : D4 - D8

D4 seems pretty well sorted with Laois winning the league and Mullingar and Oakhill dropping to D5. Malahide II have two scheduled matches still to play but would need to win both with near maximum bonus points to overtake second place Railway Union II.

With Merrion losing a 20 over refix during the week to Leinster III the promotion places for D5 are now settled with Dundrum [winners] and Clontarf III to go up. Railway III and Leinster are relegated.

In D6 YMCA win the league and go up with Sandyford. Belvedere II are relegated with Clonee and Rush still playing to avoid the second drop spot. If Clonee beat third place Merrion IV on Saturday then the final match between Clonee and Rush II would decide the matter.

Leinster IV are D7 champions [but may find promotion blocked if Leinster III come down from D5]. Second place Merrion V may also be unable to go up [assuming they hold off the challenge of Knockharley] as Merrion IV are in D6. More work for the OCC at season end. Based on their positions and scheduled fixtures, Wexford and Bagenalstown look doomed, however, The Hills III have only played 12 matches so there may be more life in this league yet.

Finally, in D8 Clontarf IV are champions with Merrion VI and Wicklow II relegated. Dundrum II are in second place but there is a third and fourth place playoff between Balbriggan II and Leinster V and either team can overtake them. But a close match will mean that neither team has enough bonus points to make it to second place.

Report on the rest of the leagues tomorrow.
