  3. RSA Open : Sunday 16th September
16th September 2012 by Eddie Lewis

RSA Open : Sunday 16th September

There are 18 matches still scheduled to be played this season. The Boys U15 ‘All Ireland’ Final between Pembroke and Donemana takes place today and all the remainder are Open Competitions Matches.

Best of luck to the Pembroke side. They are a very good side that I saw win against Northern opposition in the semi-final not so long ago and hopefully they can emulate the feat of YMCA who won the All Ireland U13s.

Turning now to the Open Competitions. There is one remaining match in D3 and that will decide the fate of the league and the second relegation spot. If Merrion II can win against The Hills II [who they lost to yesterday] then they will win the league and The Hills will go down to D4. If The Hills win then it is Clontarf II who will go down.

In D4 Malahide II are on a late surge to overtake Railway II for the second promotion spot [they did the first part yesterday with a comprehensive victory over Oakhill]. But they have to do it all again today against the champions Laois.

In D5 Clontarf need 3 points to keep above Merrion III who have completed their season. But they will probably be waiting more anxiously for the result in Anglesea Road where a loss by Merrion might see their path to promotion blocked.

In D6 the placing are all decided after Clonee’s loss to Merrion IV yesterday. Rush are now safe.  Knockharley play their second game of the weekend today [the result from yesterday not yet in] and they just need to maintain their third place above North Kildare to remain in the shake-up for the grand OCC ‘promotion and relegation’ meeting in the Autumn. In D8 there is a face-off between Balbriggan II and Leinster V to overtake Dundrum II. But a close match will mean that neither team has enough bonus points to make it to second place.

No match in D9 and nothing at stake in D10 clash between Phoenix IV and Malahide [other than pride, bragging rights etc]. In D11 North County start a late season three match series to see if they can stay up. The first match against second last North Kildare III is today. North Kildare are already relegated. Nothing left of note in D12 or D13 and D14 is all finished.

Usual health warnings apply – check the math yourself if you are concerned.
