Pretorius leads batting and allrounders in Div 2

Three Division 2 matches at the weekend with plenty of fine performances. The Hills won by 162 runs against Balbriggan, with Nic Pretorius scoring 106 and Manu Kumar having a fine afternoon with 70 and 5-23. On the Balbriggan side, Roger Kear took 5-43. Tom Ritchie took 5-50 and Joe Carroll scored 60 for Leinster, but it was Phoenix who finished on top, thanks mainly to 50s from Sam Anderson and Matt Scott.

In the other match, Terenure overcame YMCA 2 by 4 wickets, although the match was fifty less, and no one took more than three wickets.

Highest Batting average in Division 2 - (current qualification - 100 runs)

Qualification for the batting averages stays at 100 runs (probably for the last week). Nic Pretorius's hundred takes him to the top, with team mates Max Sorensen and Mike Baumgart not too far behind. Thel latter two both qualify for the overall award (as they are Irish qualified) - the next eligible player is Phoenix's Masud Ahmed down in 8th place.

Leading allrounder in Division 2- (Qualification 300 points - 1 pt for each run, 20 pts for each wkt, ctch or stmp)

A slightly worrying trend in terms of Irish player development in the Allrounders table this week. Six of the top seven are not Irish qualified, and the other, Joe Carroll, is qualified but is Australian through and through. Wicketkeepers take the top two spots in the hunt for the top allrounder
