Today's No Result in both IP50 fixtures in Derry and Cork means that the Sherwin O'Riordan Leinster Lightning have completed their second consecutive double.

Leinster Lightning has dominated the IP competitions since they were reconstituted in 2013 and this year’s success is their 10th time as IP50 Champions in the 13 years of the competition. It is also their 6th double (IP20 & IP50), the last of which was achieved only 12 months ago despite the continued reallocation of many CL players to other PU teams.

The victory in the competition was underpinned by an excellent early-season, when the side claimed their opening three games in the space of just 8 days in May, defeating each of the Knights, Warriors and Reds in quick succession.

Some incredible highlights during that opening week included centuries for each of Chris de Freitas (143*), Lorcan Tucker (121), Harry Tector (120) and George Dockrell (101*).
Matt Hollard delivered the bowling highlight in last week's victory over the Northern Knights, as he took 5/62 in what turned out to be the last victory which the side claimed, with today's fixture rained off, whilst left-armer Jai Moondra was the leading wicket taker for the side, claiming 11 victims over the course of the campaign.

Huge congratulations to the whole squad and in particular to Head Coach, Andre Botha and Captain Lorcan Tucker on this major achievement.
Our thanks to James Sherwin and David O’Riordan (Sherwin O’Riordan Solicitors) for their ongoing sponsorship support of the Leinster Lightning and Leinster Bolts, it is very much appreciated.
