Commenting on the match, Leinster Development Team manager Kenny Carroll said the following:

'All the Leinster players are looking forward to this match. It is always an honour to represent Leinster and playing against the MCC will make it extra special. I would like to thank Alan Lewis and the MCC for giving us this fixture and also Peter Saville at Oakhill for hosting the match. It will be a great opportunity for the Leinster players to stake a claim for further representative honours. All of the 12 players selected have the ability to progress further in the game. There is no better place to take runs, wickets or catches than in front of an Ireland selector. I understand the MCC will have a strong side with some professional cricketers playing so it will be a good test for our young team. Next season we aim to have more of these matches and extend our squad because there is no shortage of talent in Leinster cricket. The match starts at 12 noon and all support is welcome.'
