Top of the Division-2 table by almost 50 points, Malahide 1st XI face Clontarf 2nd XI, the only team to beat them in their otherwise triumphant season, at 2pm tomorrow in Malahide in the Junior Cup Final.
Malahide’s key batswoman, Clare Shillington, is in top form with a good innings of 51 during the week against the Bangladesh women’s team in her 99th game for Ireland, as well as three centuries at club level this season. Malahide are by no means a one-woman show, with current Irish Wicket Keeper Mary Waldron behind the stumps and key bowler Margaret Richardson taking the new ball.
Clontarf 2s are well-deserving finalists, with an impressive winning record this season. With a strong bowling attack and good batting partnerships, their players to watch will be Una Raymond-Hoey and Miriam O’Flynn.
Can Clontarf make it two from two against Malahide, or are Malahide on their way back to Division 1 with two pieces of silverware?
Play begins at 2pm, Saturday August 25th in Malahide.
