Merrion VI lead D11 with seven wins and only one loss. With two matches at home this weekend they have an opportunity to consolidate their position and make it very difficult for the chasing teams to overtake them. For Ashbourne. in second place, it is a matter of trying to stay in touch so that the head to head between the two sides in early September is in effect a league decider. At the other end of the table Rush III are in serious trouble with only one win to show for their efforts this season. The Hills IV and Terenure III are neck and neck in the battle to avoid the second relegation spot.
In D12, Balbriggan III have only completed five matches this season, but they have been on the right side of the result in every case. With over 90% they have a massive lead over Sandyford II and Leinster V, the only two teams with a better than 50% average. There are quite a few games still to play so Balbriggan cannot afford to be complacent - but as things stand the league is theirs to lose. The battle to avoid relegation involves no less than five teams. North County IV, Swords II, Civil Service III and Merrion VII all have three wins. and the bottom team, Phoenix V, two. But any of these teams could end up in the relegation zone at the end of the season if they had a bad run of form.
Halverstown are another team who have not lost a game this year and lead D13. But there are a lot of games still to play, with all but one of the sides in this seven team league having played only five or six matches. Bagenalstown II and Pembroke V are within catching distance of the leaders but need a run of good results to keep the pressure on. At the other end of the table Dublin University III have become detached and look most likely to take the drop.
AIB are well out in front in D14 with 7/7. Their only challenger is Adamstown IV who are 16% points behind. A combination of penalty points [Castleknock on 45 hold the record for the OC], walk-overs and teams beating each other has meant that no other team is better than 40%. Railway Union V look the most likely to go down in another seven team league.
D15 remain quite open with the top team, Tyrrelstown, only on 71.5%. Knockharley III and North Kildare IV are pressing them but still have a way to make up. Mullingar III are struggling at the bottom of the table and still looking for their first win. They look most likely to be the team going down.
And finally, in D16 Bagenalstown III are another team in the lead but with a modest percentage [71.18%]. Clondalkin II are close behind but the two won’t meet again this season. The leaders have their fate in their own hands but have a difficult run in with double headers against Adamstown V and Leinster VI who are in 3rd and 4th places.
