  3. CLONTARF CLAIM ED SPORTS JUNIOR CUP FOR 2026!
16th August 2026 by Mick Cotter

CLONTARF CLAIM ED SPORTS JUNIOR CUP FOR 2026!

A brilliant batting performance from Sinead Thomson was the foundation upon which Clontarf built their success this afternoon - as they won the ED Sports Junior Cup against the 2025 Holders Leinster.

Having won the toss, Leinster elected to bowl, following the successful pattern of both finalists last weekend. However Rosie Neuman-Jones started like a house on fire, smacking 7 boundaries in a 2-ball 38 that got Clontarf off to a flier.

When she was dismissed by Amy Kenealy, her start had allowed Sinead Thomson to play her way into the game. However Hannah Pasley also followed quickly after the loss of Neuman-Jones, leaving ‘Tarf in need of a partnership.

Laura Cullen joined Thomson at the fall of the third wicket, and they added 53 to the total to take the score up to 125 before Cullen was dismissed for 16.

Thomson brought up her half century and continued on relentlessly, finding the boundary 10 times in her 60-ball 84 and boosting the team score to 167/5 from their 20 overs.

Clontarf started excellently with the ball, and whilst it took until the 9th over to take the second wicket of the innings, they had already restricted Leinster’s efforts and left them needing 10 an over for the second half of the innings.

That was where Rosie Neuman-Jones once again came to the fore, as she claimed 4/20 from her five overs of off-spin, as Leinster were restricted to just 105/8 in their 20 overs, Clontarf running out 62 run winners.

Congratulations to Clontarf on winning the ED Sports Junior Cup for the 2026 season, a brilliant achievement for all players, coaches, officials and supporters of the team!
