  3. A look back at Sunday’s results
15th September 2014 by Paul Reynolds

A look back at Sunday’s results

Seventeen matches took place yesterday, with all matches having an impact on the promotion and relegation battles. We look through the results, to see what they mean

Division 3 - Leinster's 117 run victory, coupled with North Kildare's win over North County means that North County are consigned to Division 4 for next season. However, with no details on the North Kildare/North County match, this is very much unofficial!

Division 4 - YMCA 3 beat Malahide 2 on Sunday, getting revenge for Malahide's win in the same fixture on Saturday. Malahide can still be promoted, but as yet, have not come up with a date to play their last match against Dundrum. Merrion 3 can confirm runners-up spot (although they cannot be promoted), should they beat Pembroke 3 next week. Railway Union's outside chance of promotion disappeared when they lost to Mullingar

Division 5 - Greystones 1 beat Merrion 4 handsomely, thanks to 99* from Danny Barclay. Merrion 4 will still avoid relegation should they beat Clontarf 3 next week. That would send North County 3 down

Division 6 - The big news of the day was Longford's sensational 10 wicket win over Knockharley 1, with Knockharley being bowled out for 34 before Longford knocked the runs off in 4 overs. It meant that Phoenix 3 will be crowned Division 6 champions - once the scorecards are submitted. However, contrary to reports, this doesn't save Longford from relegation. They are still below North Kildare 2 in the league, and need to beat Rush 2 in their one remaining game. However, as it stands, no date has been arranged for that match. Railway 4's win over Rush removed any outside chance that Railway had of being relegated

Division 7 - In the one fixture, Dundrum 2 lost narrowly to Clontarf 4, but the bonus points they picked up were enough to make sure the small mathematical chance of relegation has been removed

Division 8 - Civil Service 2 beat Dundalk 1 and Bagenalston 1 beat Wicklow County 1. What this means in the race for the second promotion spot is unclear until scorecards come in. Keep an eye on Twitter as scorecards come in during the week!

Divison 9 - North County 4 lost to Terenure 3 as Danny Hogan scored 151* . It blew North County's chances of winning Division 9, but they still have a chance of promotion. The title will be won by either Phoenix 4 or Greystones 2

Division 10 - Clontarf 5 had to give a walkover to Castleknock 2, a result that relegated Clontarf

Division 11 - Adamstown 2 took 25 points with a big victory over Leinster 6. They have one more game to arrange (against The Hills 4), but even ith another 25 points they can only draw level with Lucan 1. As Lucan beat Adamstown in both their fixtures this year, Lucan are already promoted

Division 12 - No news from the Swords 2 vs Halverstown 1 match

Division 13 - Castleknock 3 beat Sandyford 3. It means that the second relegation spot (Rush 4 are already bottom) is still between Dundalk 2 and Sandyford 3. The teams play each other next weekend

Division 14 - Greystones 3 beat Mullingar 3, and there is no news from the Phoenix 6 vs Civil Service 4 match. Misisng results mean it is too close to call as to who joins Wicklow County 2 in the promotion spots
