  3. Yaqoob Ali called up and O’Brien returns
9th September 2014 by Leinster Lightning

Yaqoob Ali called up and O’Brien returns

The Leinster Lightning selectors have the pleasure of announcing the following match day squad of the Newstalk 106-108fm Inter-Provincial Trophy game against the Northern Knights on Sunday the 14th of September in Waringstown Cricket Club.

John Mooney (North County) Captain

John Anderson (Merrion) Vice-captain

Yaqoob Ali (YMCA)

Andrew Balbirnie (Middlesex)

Tyrone Kane (Merrion)

Fintan McAllister wkt. (Malahide)

Barry McCarthy (Pembroke)

Cormac McLoughlin (The Hills)

Kevin O’Brien (Railway)

Andrew Poynter (Clontarf)

Max Sorensen (The Hills)

Albert Van der Merwe (YMCA)

There are only two changes from the Lightning’s previous match versus The Warriors back in September in Strabane. Stuart Poynter is unavailable due to commitments with Durham and Eddie Richardson is injured and unfortunately misses his first Inter-Provincial game of the new era. Kevin O’Brien returns to the squad after his overseas exploits and we are delighted to announce Yaqoob Ali’s first inclusion in a Lightning squad. Yaqoob has been in great form with the ball this season and is deservedly rewarded for his efforts.

Victory on Sunday will see the Lightning secure our second title of the season but we are expecting Eugene Moleon’s charges to be tough to beat as they are defending the trophy they won last season.
