  3. Review of Weekend: Still Confusing Picture

Review of Weekend: Still Confusing Picture

Although some leagues have been decided there is still much to play for. With clubs still not putting up Results in the Match Centre or sending in Scorecards on time - it is more confusing than it should be.

D1/D2 are now all settled and all matches completed.

D3:      still very interesting with The Hills II [who cannot be promoted] threatening to spoil the party and challenge Clontarf II and YMCA II, both of whom won over the weekend. Civil Service loss twice and are surely down. Lesinter II pick up some points but it doesn't look like being enough.

D4:      In D4 wins for Railway II [unconfirmed] and YMCA III keep up pressure for the second promotion spot. Merrion III currently occupy that spot but as things stand cannot be promoted as Merrion IIs are due to drop to D3 in 2015.

D5:      Top two places sorted with Malahide III champions and Greystones promoted. Malahide’s upward path is currently blocked by Malahide II who are mid-table in D4. Merrion IV losing to North County V means that they are now in the danger zone and need to win at least one of their last two matches to guarantee survival.

D6:      The big game in D6 saw Phoenix III lose to Knockharley. This means Knockharley will be promoted along with Phoenix and the title is their’s to lose with a game in hand. Sandyford’s win over Castleknock makes them safe but removes Castleknock’s last route to safety. Railway IV’s two wins over weekend means that they go ahead of Longford who may need to win their last couple to survive.

D7:      A full point win for Adamstown puts them in strong position to take title as second placed Laois II falter against Merrion V. Clontarf IV have mixed fortunes, losing badly to Adamstown but beating Wexford. Dundrum II move away from the danger zone and in so doing put Pembroke IV in danger.

D8:      Any lingering hopes, however remote,  that Dundalk had for survival faded over the weekend as they lost badly and Malahide IV won.  Malahide’s win over The Hills III means that the latter are relegated. Bagenalstown’s win puts them in the shake up for promotion but they have a way to go to catch Knockharley II who also won. Leinster IV did not play but are comfortably on top.

D9:      Walkover for Mullingar will help their cause and move them to mid-table. Still matches to play and a lot of scorecards to be submitted – so picture is confused. Please get the scorecards in.

D10     Another win for Slieve Bloom in their final match – and that should be the league. Depending on their result against Rush III, Railway V can still catch Merrion VI and secure the second promotion spot.  Still everything to play for at the bottom with up to four teams involved.

D11     Big win for third placed Adamstown II, but no results or scorecards from the two leaders, Longford II and Lucan. With matches in hand Adamstown still have a chance for the title.

D12     Win for leaders Merrion VII and second placed Adamstown III. Will still go down to the wire with the two teams due to play each other on  . Results and scorecards outstanding so difficult to get complete picture of what is happening at the other end of the table. Bottom team Bagenalstown II get a walkover – but they will need a couple more good results and favourable outcomes from elsewhere to survive.

D13     Another win for leaders Dundrum III but Laois III are chasing hard and also won. Couple of games outstanding for Dundrum who have it in their own hands to win the league. Sandyford  III beat Dundalk II in crucial clash to see who can avoid the second relegation spot. Rush IV win their second game of the season to move into positive points territory. Scorecards outstanding but despite the win Rush look to be down.

D14     Wicklow II have won the league and second placed Mullingar II were not in action. Leinster VII win but they have a lot to do to get up to second promotion spot.
