Women’s Midweek Round-up: Future talent on display

Tuesday 13th may

The Hills 2 V Rush 1 - no scorecard entered

Dublin University 1 V YMCA 2 - YMCA won by 9 wkts - no scorecard entered


Wednesday 14th May

Phoenix 1 v Rush 2 - Phoenix Park

Rush won the toss and elected to bat. They posted 93/1 off their 20 overs. L Carthy 41*, A Beggs 25* & C Carthy 19. S Moore took 1 for 14 off 3 overs. In reply Phoenix made 75/6-20. H Caird retired not out on 16. C Carthy was best of the bowlers at 5-0-17-2



Thursday, 15th May

Leinster 1 V Malahide 1 - Observatory Lane

Leinster won the toss and elected to bowl first. Malahide scored 72 for the loss of 7 wickets with the early departure of Captain Mary Waldron who was caught out by Captain Laura Delany for 5. Malahide lost wickets at regular intervals and Ciara O'Carolan-Murphy finished of as Malahide’s top scorer with 17. A Kerrison bowled 2-11-4 overs, L Delany 2-14-4 overs and A Kenealy 1-14-4 overs.

Valmai was out stumped for 0 in 1st over off the bowling of Fiona Gill. The Leinster girls were 25/1 off 5 chasing 73. The second innings lasted only 10.5 overs with L Delany 32*, A Kenealy 16*. F Gill 1-18-2.5 overs and M McGann 1-13-3 overs. Leinster 73-2 off 10.5 overs - Leinster winning by 8 wickets.


The Hills 1 V Clontarf 1 - no scorecard entered


North Kildare v Merrion - The Maws

Merrion won toss and fielded! North Kildare got 94-6 off the 20... Lucy small top scoring with 27, before being bowled by Sadhbh Breslin who got her first senior wicket for Merrion. Lena Tice finished with figures of 2-22!
Merrion opened their batting chase with with Hannah de Burgh Whyte and Kate McKenna and chased for loss of none in 12.4 overs, McKenna ending on 44*(42) and Hannah on 42*(36) - Leinster winning by 8 wickets.


Pembroke 1 v Y.M.C.A - Sydney Parade

YM won the toss and put Pembroke into bat. Meg Kendal and returning Kim Garth got Pembroke off to a flying start. Pembroke didn’t lose any wickets and ended their batting innings on 141. Meg Kendal 52 and Kim Garth 69 not out.

Jenny Gray and Robin Lewis opened the batting and were gone pretty quick, making way for sister Gaby lewis and Lucy O’Reilly. Lucy scored a 100 runs for her school St. Andrew’s midweek against Gerrards and is in good form with the bat. Gaby made a stylish 42 of 37 balls before being run out by Kim Garth and Lucy made 17. With Sharon Smyth going for 3 Clare Shillington came to the crease to show us all how to play t20 cricket. She hit a quick 56 of 28 balls which included 5 4’s and 3 6’s. YM fell short by only 8 runs with Louise McCarthy finishing on figures of 4-9-1 and Ciara Metcalfe 4-20-2. Pembroke winning by 8 runs
