Sport Active Wexford staff and partners swapped the office for the outfield on Wednesday, taking part in a pairs cricket team building day at Wexford Wanderers Cricket Club.

The format — quick, inclusive and built around everyone getting a bat and a bowl regardless of experience — proved an ideal fit for a group with a wide range of cricketing backgrounds, and the day was played in excellent spirit throughout.

The session was delivered by Cricket Development Officer Herbie Honohan, alongside Peter and Dermot, who together lead cricket development across County Wexford. It marked another step in a growing partnership between Cricket Leinster and the Local Sports Partnership, which has been central to expanding participation opportunities in the county.

"Everyone had such great craic."
— Anna Flynn, ESF+ Social Innovation in Sports Officer, Sport Active Wexford

"It was brilliant to see the group take to it so quickly. Once people have a bat in their hands the nerves disappear and the competitive streak comes out. We're lucky to have such a strong relationship with Sport Active Wexford, and days like this help us reach people who might never have considered cricket before."
— Herbie Honohan, Cricket Development Officer

"Days like this are a great reminder of what cricket can offer — it's a game anyone can pick up, and the pairs format means everyone is involved from the first ball to the last. Huge thanks to Anna, Will, Fran and Mary T and everyone at Sport Active Wexford for their continued support of our work in the county. Watching Herbie and his team run the day was a real pleasure, and it's that quality of delivery on the ground that's driving cricket forward in Wexford."
— Naomi Scott-Hayward, Disability, Inclusion & Participation Manager, Cricket Leinster
