  3. The Weekend so far
16th June 2019 by Eddie Lewis

The Weekend so far

With weather impacting over half the D1/D2 games and many others it is a somewhat truncated programme that we have to report on this morning. But that shouldn’t take away from an excellent win for Terenure in the Championship away to North County. In the only other game in the Division Clontarf made the journey to Cork and came away with a hard fought victory.

Only one game got played in the Premier League where it was a case of deja vu for YMCA who for the second time in the season lost to a Daya Singh inspired The Hills by two wickets in Claremont Road.

We only have results from a few of the Middle 2 cups games but those reported so far went to form with D7 teams progressing.

One important league result worth noting - D4 league leaders North Kildare held off the challenge of closest rivals YMCA 3 and set their stamp on the Division with a full point victory.

For details of these and other results reported on the day, if you go into Live Scores you can now select previous days to see the updates and results.

Today, attention turns to the second round of the Irish Senior and National Cups. There are 12 leinster Cups in actions. There are home ties for Clontarf, Leinster, Malahide, Rush, Pembroke [v The Hills], Terenure and North Kildare [v Balbriggan].

With teams who secured a bye in the first round based on last year’s performances entering the fray, all the big names in the competition are in action. The current holders Warringstown travel to Malahide and will present a formidable challenge for the home team. Perhaps an even more difficult task lies ahead for Merrion who most travel North to take on CIYMS, the team of all the talents. CIYMS and Waringstown currently lead the Premier league in the NCU with the former undefeated so far this season.

There are 16 other other OC games taking place around the province. The forecast is for it to be mainly dry at first but with showers, some heavy, spreading in the afternoon.

If you are out and about don’t forget to send in your updates and results to the Match Centre
