  3. The top run scorers in Open Comps
17th August 2011 by Paul Reynolds

The top run scorers in Open Comps

A bit of a gap since the last update, and hence I've had a fair few mails asking for the newest list. So without further ado, here it is.

A good few changes, with John Anderson of Merrion now well clear. His 842 runs at 56 are one of the main reasons why Merrion are still in contention for the Division 1, Senior Cup double. Similarly, Sanjay Saharan has been helping Merrion's middle teams in their hunt for silverware. He stands in 3rd place on the batting, and also second place in the bowling (to be published soon)

Ten players have scored over 500 runs at an average of over 50 - some achievement. They are (in order of runs scored), Anderson, Alex Mathew (Dundrum 1sts and 2nds), Asim Nazir (Leinster 3rds-7ths), Andre Botha (Terenure 1sts), Rashad Ejaz (Mullingar 1sts), Tom Fisher (Railway Union 1sts), Simmi Singh (Old Belvedere 1sts), Tariq Islam (Laois 2nds and 3rds), Sean Tomlinson (Railway Union 3rds & 4ths) and Raj Valson (Balbriggan 2nds)

Whether anyone reaches the magical 1000 mark is a doubt. Anderson only has two more innings left, although some players who play for more than one team have many more - for example Alex Mathew could stil lplay 10 more innings for Dundrum 1sts and 2nds.
