Title and relegation spots up for grabs in weekend matches

With everything still to play for in Division 1 this is the day to get out and support your team. There are no dead fixtures and every match is crucial to the outcome of either league honours or relegation and every team still has something to play for.

The local derby, The Hills v North County, shoud provide the location for north side cricket followers. North County are joint top of the league but need to win to maintain poll position. The Hills are also not out of contention if they can win their remaining matches and other results fall their way.

Sandymount will also be busy with the vital relegation battle between Pembroke and YMCA and  Railway Union hosting Clontarf. If YMCA are to escape relegation they really need to win against Pembroke [and later against Phoenix]. Pembroke on the otherhand cannot afford to slip up or they will be dragged down into the relegation zone. Across the road Railway Union still are in with a good shout for the league title if North County or Merrion slip up. Clontarf are in the same position as The Hills, ground to make up but not out of it yet.

The final match is in the Park where Phoenix take on Merrion. Merrion have had a good run of late and need to finish with two wins if they are to have any chance of taking the title. Phoenix, following their excellent form in the Irish Senior Cup, really need a win if they are to end up above YMCA and Pembroke.

All we need now is some fine weather.
