Table Cricket comes to Ballyfermot Leisure Centre

Table Cricket Tournament – January 25th 2018

On January 25 th, Cricket Leinster delivered a Table Cricket tournament at Ballyfermot Leisure Centre to mark off what has been a fantastic couple of weeks of activities in the Dublin City Area.

We had a total of four teams participating: two from the host venue St. John of Gods Program and two from St Michael's House Turas Centre. A total of 30 players took part in the tournament. Each team competed in three games on the day. All teams involved have put a lot of hard work and dedication into training and after a close final, the Turas team were winners on the day.

In the build up to the competition each group had completed a training block, learning all the different skills involved in Table Cricket. These sessions were carried out by Fintan Mc Allister (Dublin City Council Development Officer), Diarmuid Lynch and the carers from the two centres.

Dublin City Sports and Wellbeing Development Officer Sharon Kelly has really been driving this programme of late. “The tournament was brilliant and it was great to see all the practice put into play. All groups loved the training in the lead-in to the tournament and we hope to build on this from year to year”.

Well done to all 30 participants at the tournament – an exciting and enjoyable day for everyone involved with the teams. I think I can safely say on behalf of all the participants, helpers, coaches, carers and staff that were involved, that this is certainly a day to be repeated.

Cricket Leinster would like to thank Dublin City Council and Lord Taveners for their continued support of these programmes and to Ballyfermot Leisure Centre for hosting the event on the day.
