Cricket Leinster is pleased to launch a competition for primary schools in the South Dublin County Council area.
The Cricket Leinster Development team has developed a series of short animated video challenges for use as a fun challenge to test Fundamental Movement Skills for students. We will also be using them at a later stage with secondary schools as well as with cricket clubs.
All the videos will be made available on Cricket Leinster’s social media for anyone to use over the coming weeks.
So please look out for them every Tuesday!
Our development officers across Leinster will be utilising these resources to engage with schools and clubs in each of their respective areas. The challenges are designed so that they can be completed at home or in schools either working on your own or in pairs. We hope they will build a bit of a buzz for cricket as we come into the season.
The South Dublin Schools competition will work as follows:
1) We are asking teachers to send out the link to the video to their class on or near the following dates:
The children just need to complete the challenges before the deadline, so schools can join in at any time.
2) Class teachers will collect the students' scores for each challenge and send them to the cricket contact in the school. Note: these challenges can be done at home or in school yards. It is accessible for everyone whether they are back to school or not.
3) The cricket contact can then send the following information to us:
Note that the deadline for submission is Friday 26th March
All participating children will also receive a Bonus Video on Catching Games when they have submitted their scores.
The school with the highest average score over all 3 challenges will win a set of cricket bats & balls for their school!
All thanks to South Dublin County Council and Cricket Leinster!
Winners will be announced after the Easter break - on Monday 12th April.
