Senior’s Fantasy Cricket - and who has the longest name?

The Overall table is headed by Gareth Delany of Leinster. Gareth has taken a 129 point lead over George Dockrell. Kenny Carroll of R&SPU is proving to be a consistent performer once again whilst Reinhardt Strydom is certainly enjoying his new location in the Phoenix Park. John  Anderson’s form has seen him selected for the Irish squad playing this week in Malahide versus Sri Lanka, and Anto Coates double hundred sees his pass 700 points. Early leader Jack McGee of Rush has slipped down to 13th place.

1,665 players have now taken to the field in a LCU league or cup game. This is the headline figure that the LCU could use to demonstrate the numbers playing league cricket. However, it should be noted that over 75% (1,251) of this number have played just 5 games or fewer.

18 players have taken to the field at least 11 times with Clontarf’s Rana Tariq top of the pile with 15 appearances.

In a slightly unfair listing the players with the highest number of ducks are shown here. However, to get this many ducks you need to keep returning to the scene of the crime. So are they optimists who feel they are one innings away from a big score? Perhaps.

A fairer table would show the players who have the highest ratio of ducks to innings. All of these players have had a duck in every game they played. We show here the players with more than one duck who have failed to score a run.

Best bowling figures of 7-17 see Civil Service’s Fahad Babr top of this pile and Eugene Brennan’s reign is over, for now. Who is to say he won’t better his 6-7 before the season is over. Its a target anyway.

43 bowlers have managed a fivefer to date, but not one has done it twice.

The bowlers with the best economy rates are perhaps not regular bowlers and are included on the basis of one bowling spell, but some bowlers have still managed to be included despite or because of bowling multiple overs. So we are showing not just the economy rate but also the overs bowled.

We now return to everyone favourite player, Unregistered. He has made 17 appearances for 12 Clubs. His most popular side to line out for currently is Wexford Wanderers. He has scored 163 runs, bowled 35 overs and taken 7 wickets. His fantasy total points of 473 would place him just outside the top 50 at 53rd.

Finally for this week, the scorers nightmare, the men who it costs the most to get their name put on their short, the longest registered names in Leinster cricket.

Sharing second place with 26 letters are Ittavira Kaithalamattathil from Dundalk and Girish Kumar Thankamani Rajan from Swords.

The longest registered name in leinster cricket so far this season is Lucan’s MEENATCHISUN CHANDRAMAHAN with 29 letters. Good luck fitting that into the scorebook!!

That’s it for this week. If you want to know your own figures, figures for your side or club, contact me at craig@cricket.ie.
