How are teams performing in OC Leagues

A greater than usual number of caveats and explanations are required before one can consider drawing any conclusions from the tables below. They reflect scorecards submitted - and there are a lot outstanding. It is a pity that so much of the effort of clubs and CL volunteers is wasted because a few teams aren’t bothered to send in scorecards or complete the team sheets in time. Some clubs have played very few matches - either being unfortunate with the weather or just reflecting the way the fixtures were scheduled. And of course it is only the first benchmark of the season - there is a long way to go.

That said there are a number of clubs who are doing well and have certainly put down a marker to the other teams in their Division. Perhaps not too much can be made of the only team with 100% points [Mullingar III in D15] as they have only completed one match [plus one possible walk over].

No less than eight Divisions are led by teams with over 90% points*, which even at this time of the year suggests that quite a few leagues have dominant teams. In all 16 teams have yet to lose a league match this season [Phoenix II, Greystones [D4], Knockharley, Phoenix III [D5], Railway III, Adamstown [D6], Laois II [D7], Balbriggan II [D8], Railway IV [D10], Ringcommons [D11], Cabinteely, Phoenix V [D12], Balbriggan III, Wicklow II [D14], Mullingar III [D15] and AIB [D16].

There are more teams [26] yet to record victories [although in some cases this is down to completed scorecards not having been received]. We will leave over this list to the next checkpoint.

*The top two leagues are determined by total points scored rather than percentages.

What of the overall performance of clubs. The table below sets out the Win/Loss Ratio for league matches [excluding walkover wins and no result matches]. As usual a few clubs with single teams are doing well [Ringcommons, AIB, Cabinteely] but Balbriggan and Phoenix are doing particularly well from the multi-team clubs. Special mention for Swords - both teams topping their Divisions.
